Visas et formalités d'entrée

Si les formalités d'entrées étaient jadis longues, difficiles, coûteuses et restrictives, elles s'assouplissent nettement ces dernières années. Et si l'administration a fait bien des efforts, elles reste tout de même emprunte d'un passé Français peu enclin à l'efficacité. Mais avec un sourire, beaucoup de choses s'arrangent dans ce pays... A bon entendeur...

Au préalable (depuis le 1er juillet 2012)

passeport, en cours de validité (à au moins 6 mois de sa date de renouvellement)
2 photos d'identité récentes, couleur ou N&B, taille 3x4
un visa en bonne et due forme (c'est à dire correspondant aux dates de validité...)

Le visa

De l'ambassade du Laos : pour les touristes, on peut avoir 1 ou 2 mois de visa. Maintenant, Elles donnent droit à une entrée au Laos assorti du nombre de jours maximum autorisés. C'est la solution la plus sûre. Comptez 30 à 50 euros pour le visa de 30 jours.
De Thaïlande : obtention d'un visa d'un mois dans la journée. Comptez 3 jours au moins si vous êtes à Chiang Mai
A la frontière Lao : il est délivré sans problème aux postes frontières internationales (et non aux postes locaux), 30 à 45 dollars (selon la nationalité) à régler en monnaie américaine, sonnante et trébuchante (à prévoir, sinon s'attendre à des problèmes de change). Penser à se munir de 2 photos d'identité.
Étendre son visa sur place, au Laos, c'est tout à fait possible et courant. Le prix sera compris entre 1 et 4 dollars selon que l'on demande 5 jours d'extension ou 1 mois. Prévoir éventuellement quelques jours de battement sans passeport si on ne se trouve pas dans la capitale ou à Luang Prabang.

Lancée en 2005, la 1ère version de ce site avait un objectif : proposer des informations locales alors qu'aucun website officiel de l'office du tourisme n'existait. Le site devint, de facto, le 1er site généraliste centralisant infos, photos, conseils, et idées de circuits à Luang Prabang et ses environs.

Né à Luang Prabang, diplômé guide professionnel en 2024 Français et Anglais, je reprends le management de l'agence locale fondée à ma naissance par mon père qui part à la retraite et me laisse les rênes.

Parfaitement francophone, anglophone, laophone, j'ai eu la chance d'avoir une éducation multiculturelle à même de me permettre de faire le lien entre les curieux voyageurs et notre pays singulier notamment par sa douceur, sa philosophie, sa tolérance.

Le Laos est un pays qui globalement manque cruellement de tout : d'établissements hospitaliers, de médecins qualifiés et expérimentés, de moyens, de matériel et de sang. Pour palier ce dernier manque, la croix rouge de Luang Prabang a mis en place un centre de collecte de sang respectant toutes les normes sanitaires et hygiéniques.
