Elephant experience
Many private companies recently developped activities with pachyderms. Because domesticated elephants were traditionally used in logging, they usually were overworked and exhausted they no longer breed. With only two elephants born for every ten that die, the Asian elephant, the sacred national emblem of Laos, is under serious threat of extinction.
Now that logging in Laos is not allowed any more, many elephants and their mahout don’t have work. Tourism activities became, since 2010, the most important reconversion way for elephants who found a new better way of life.
